The quest to follow your dreams and fulfill your purpose reveals that knowing someone or sharing the same DNA doesn’t automatically qualify them as supporters or fans. The journey to your dreams is not easy. You must go at it with the determination to ride alone, but welcome those who genuinely decide to journey with you.
It is important to know that everyone who joins your journey has a timeframe. Some will be with you for the entire journey and others for a short season. Move forward remembering that those who support you have something to offer that will be necessary on your journey. On the other hand, those who at first glance appear not to be supportive are there to offer you the gift needed to power your enthusiasm and determination. Their disbelief will continue to propel you forward into your destiny. So smile when you see the disbelief on their faces. Say thank you when they tell you “you’re crazy” or “you can’t make your dream come true” because they just gifted you with the fuel needed to keep moving on.
Quoting Leo Buscaglia in his book Destiny, T.D. Jakes stated, “Your talent is God’s gift to you. What you do with it is your gift back to God.” This reminds us that the journey is not who supports it, who mocks it, or who joins it. Ultimately, it is about completion. Having a sense of completion within yourself and completion of the assignment you were given. So remember to find joy in each circumstance knowing that reaching the other side is well worth the ride.
